Joining a book club can enrich your life in so many ways. You may meet new friends who share their perspectives, experiences, and knowledge with you. Because books have the unique ability to transport you to different places and times, they will expand your horizons and, possibly, challenge the way in which you view the world. Book clubs usually read a diverse range of books, and you may find that you unexpectedly enjoy a particular genre or are introduced to an unfamiliar author. Meetings sometimes take place in members’ homes or in settings you’ve never visited before. This is an enjoyable side benefit and certainly fills the calendar in a pleasant way.
If your vision is not very good, there are large print and audiobooks available. Listening is the new reading! So there is no reason not to join a book club. Some book club members travel together and meet for meals. Book clubs are a great way to socialize. On our beautiful campus, McHARRIE LIFE SENIOR COMMUNITY offers independent retirement care, assisted living, memory care, respite care, skilled nursing care, and short-term rehabilitation. To tour our senior community at 7740 Meigs Road, Baldwinsville, please call (315) 638-2521.
P.S. Book clubs are a great way to improve or maintain communication skills, as members discuss, listen, and disagree in an open and friendly manner.
